New Windows Server 2012 WMI Classes

Hi,

I've posted this on the Windows Server thread and was sent here, so please don't suggest I post on that forum. I can't see any forum here that is appropriate for this specific question (there are no generic server forums??)
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserver8gen/thread/6bb06a6e-f73f-46f9-bfd7-935803b2aedc/

...

I see that there are a number of new WMI classes in Windows Server 2012 for example DHCP is here
root\Microsoft\Windows\dhcp

And documented here...
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh832732(v=vs.85).aspx

The classes seem to be a mangle of "normal" WMI classes such as DhcpServerSetting but there are also PowerShell "PS" prefixed classes. If you try and query the "normal" classes.

For example "SELECT * FROM DhcpServerSetting" you get 0 results.

What's going on here? There seems to be no information about this. Do you need to enable these new WMI classes? The PowerShell ones do work, do you have to use the DNS Powershell commands to access the underlying WMI objects (surely not because that would be stupid - it would mean you need the exactly version of the PowerShell tools on every machine you wanted to access WMI information from remotely).

Please can someone clarify?

Thanks,

Dave
