Using ASP.NET, How can I access client machine's serial COM Ports?

Hello Team,

I have a very specific scenario where I need to access the client machine's serial COM ports. I am only able to access server machine's COM port where I have deployed my ASP.NET application.

I know the one solution that using ActiveX, I can access the client machine's COM port but I don't want to go with this option. 

Pls. suggest any other alternate option to achieve mentioned functionality.
